31 children infected with monkeypox in the USA
At least 31 children in the United States have been diagnosed with monkeypox. ABC News reported that 9 of the victims were children in Texas.
According to the United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a total of 18,417 people has been diagnosed with monkeypox across the United States.
The CDC warns that children under eight are at risk of
serious illness if they contract monkeypox.
Monkeypox cases in children have been reported in 11
states, a Texas government official said. 9 children have been infected in
Texas.
The CDC and World Health Watchdogs say there is no evidence
that monkeypox is a sexually transmitted disease.
